Disaster Recovery & Resilience
Gain insight into the experiences of Dallas Jews who have been impacted by natural disasters and other crises. Interviews conducted by Rose Horowitz, a Doctoral Fellow at SMU.
During the Summer of 2022, we had the privilege of working with SMU Graduate Student, PhD Candidate, and Maguire and Irby Public Service Fellow, Rose Hurwitz, to record the experiences of Dallas Jewish Community members during the 2019 tornado and other disasters.
Rose is an anthropologist whose research is focused on disaster recovery and resiliency, which stems from personal experiences following Hurricane Harvey in 2017. Below are a selection of interviews Rose conducted to inform her research and assist DJHS with growing our oral history collection.
