Mitch Lurie was born and raised in South Africa. After coming to America to visit his sister who lived in Dallas, Mitch received a job offer in Boston in 1986, where he began his new life in America. He lived in Boston for 2 years before he moved to Dallas.

Born in South Africa, Rik Katz and his family moved to Dallas in 1986. He was a former treasurer of Akiba Academy and an involved Jewish community member before he and his family moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1998.

Edie Kuhne was born in Brooklyn in 1924 and moved to Dallas in 1946 with her husband. She has been a very active member of the Dallas Jewish community and has been a part of ensuring its growth and well-being.

Ethel Holiner was born in Dallas in 1934 and has been a very active member and volunteer in the Jewish community in many respects – with the Jewish Community Center, Jewish War Veterans Ladies Auxiliary, and Hadassah, among others.

Jennifer Hepker was born in England and grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa. She and her husband, Errol, eventually moved to Dallas where she has been able to influence the community, both Jewish and not.
