Rabbi Howard Wolk

Rabbi Howard Wolk was born in 1952 in the Bronx and grew up in Queens, NY. His father, a cantor, was born in Poland and came over with his parents and siblings, while Rabbi Wolk’s mother was born in Berlin and came to America with her parents and sister before the war. Rabbi Wolk moved with his family to Dallas, where he first became the founding Rabbi of Congregation Shaare Tefilla. He always has been and continues to be a strong role model and active leader within Dallas’s Jewish community and with many organizations, including Jewish Family Service and the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas. As proud parents of six children, Rabbi Wolk and his wife, Annette, have had a great impact on the community and have taught many.

Karen Stern

Karen Stern z”l was born in 1942 in Cleveland, OH, and moved to Dallas with her family when she was four years old. Karen was very interested in social justice and became a school teacher in the Dallas area, having experienced integration among the schools. Karen formed strong connections and had a huge impact on the lives of many through her work at Dallas’ Jewish Community Center, where she served as the Executive Vice President beginning in 1989. Her other positions included serving as Interim Executive Director at the Jewish Community Center in Palo Alto, CA, and as Texas Regional Director for the American Jewish Congress. She volunteered her time with the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas and also served as the president and CEO of the Arthritis Foundation for eight years, forming the South Central Region.

Marilyn Pailet

Marilyn Pailet, born in 1941 in Dallas, has from a very young age exhibited interest in reaching out to the Jewish community, with her involvements beginning in high school. Marilyn attended Tulane University, where she met her husband, Harrell. Together Marilyn and Harrell have four sons in addition to loving grandchildren. Marilyn has been a very important member and leader in the Dallas Jewish community, with involvements in organizations, including Jewish Family Service, Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas, and Congregation Shearith Israel, among many others.

Harrell Pailet

Harrell Pailet was born in 1941 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He attended Tulane University for his undergraduate years and also for law school. He and his wife, Marilyn, married towards the end of Harrell’s law school career. After completing law school, Harrell began his army service in 1964. Since his arrival in Dallas, he has served and supported the greater Dallas Jewish community as well.  Inspired by the actions of his grandparents, parents, and in-laws, Harrell, a practicing attorney, has become a prominent supporter of many charities in Dallas and its Jewish community.

Reva Morrow

Reva Morrow was born in 1938 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She attended the University of Pittsburgh where she met her husband, Neil, who was in medical school at the time. They moved to Dallas due to her husband’s internship at the Methodist Hospital. Upon their arrival, they found the growing Dallas Jewish community through Hadassah, Temple Emanu-El, and B’nai B’rith. Through these organizations, the Morrows made themselves at home in Dallas’ Jewish community, where they have had great success.
