Julius “Red” Coleman

Born in 1923 in Ferris, Texas, Julius’ father moved to Dallas, when he was 12 and started his school at John Henry Brown School. He started working at the age of 12 -delivering newspapers, worked for cleaners and sold Coca Colas. During his time in high school, he was the elected president of the freshman class. He attended University of Texas at Arlington for one semester. He started Crime Stoppers in Dallas. He got married in 1943 and has 9 grand children and 6 great grand children.

Howard Cohen

Howard CohenHoward Cohen

Howard’s father to the US from Russia and worked in a suitcase factory. Later, his father owned a suitcase factory of his own.
His father had a very strict work ethic set for him. As a child, Howard used to work in his father’s factory in Chicago. His savings helped him go to Tulane University for four years where he met his wife Carol. They got married in 1964 and have 4 four children.

Sandra Cohen Cantor

Sandra’s family came to US through Galveston in late 1800s
and most of them are still in Texas cities like Houston, Galveston, Waxahachie and Texarkana. Her father and his brothers were involved in the candy business and started Cohen Candy Company. As a child, Sandra went to JJ Perishing elementary school and got involved with BBYO during her time at Franklin Middle School and Hillcrest High School. She started her college at University of Arizona and got involved with Hallel and UJA. She then started going to Richland Community College, Dallas where again she was an active member of Jewish community.

Joyce Bernard

Joyce Bernard

Joyce was born in the city of Bayonne, New Jersey and moved to Dallas with her parents and brother when she was 2.5 years old. went to Ben Milam Elementary school and Spence Junior High. She graduated from Hillcrest in 1955. She attended Oklahoma University where she met her husband. She is very actively involved with the Jewish community and volunteers at JCC.

Harold Baeck

Harold Baeck

Born in Rhodesia which is now better known as Zimbabwe.
His parents met in Rhodesia and got married in Southern Rhodesia
He grew up in the town of Salisbury and went to the University of Cape town in South Africa from where he graduated as an architect. He started practicing in Salisbury and became famous in the entire country. He had offices in South Africa, London, Paris and Holland
He started a family in Salisbury and was the head of the Hebrew congregation as president for many years. He was also the chairman of various societies and president of the institute of architects.
He came to Dallas, Texas in 1986 to start a new life and got himself involved in real estate development.
